Tossing yee sang is boring. Everyone does the same shit every year. So Elaine probably decided to gear up a few or two by introducing us a ‘SPICY’ yee sang. Oh yea, spicy yee sang. Now that’s my first.

It looked perfectly harmless until one of the waiter came and spiced it up a lil by pouring a whole bowl of chilli sauce. I instantly choked at the sight of it and my instinct called for a box of tissue.

My box of tissue. My fearful face. And just in case you didn’t know about it, I have super low spicy tolerance level. Sipping a bowl of tom yum is as good as doing cardio for 20minutes at the gym. Not kidding at all.

It was a Thai-themed dinner. I came back with a flaming throat and a burning stomach. But the dinner company was good, everyone had their fair share of good time. I had mine too, discounting the fact that I suck in eating spicy food.

And with the new year approaching fast, let’s take some time off and recap the things that I had and hadn’t for the year 2010.

January

High School mates reunion. Meeting up with them after a year-long hiatus. Good to know everyone is doing well and on their respective paths working towards a better life.

February

First bonding session with the Sunway-Tes Accountancy Club (SAC) members. They proved to be an important part of my university life in the latter part.

March

First visit to Trinity Home, a place for the underprivileged kids. I hadn’t been doing much charity prior to this but this was really an eye opener for me.

April

My Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Graduation. Another milestone stepping into ACCA.

May

Buffet Dinner with the SAC courtesy of Sunway-TES sponsor. We bonded really well from then on.

June

Taman Negara trip with the uni mates. My first visit to the National Park and heck it was fun of fun!

July

Attended the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit (MSLS) for the first time to witness debate from both sides of the political divide. A very intellectual summit.

August

I was part of the organising committee for Social Gathering specially catered for Sunway-TES students. One of our most successful event to date.

September

Broga Hike with the uni mates. Breathtaking scenery at the top. Highly recommended.

October

Organised a trip to Bukit Tinggi aka Colmar Tropicale with the Rawang gang to take a break from the usual rush.

November

My birthday month! I had different celebrations with different groups of friends I know, thanks for turning up and for the great 19th birthday.

December

Went down to Singapore with the family. This was photographed at Marina Bay Sands, 56-storeys above sea-level.

There’s more to it but I’ll just stop right here. And here’s to a better year ahead!

Jia Wen managed to enter into Deloitte Tax Challenge last Friday and being her ‘privileged’ friend, I was invited along with Nick Tay as her guest for the night.

Ain’t the couple look lovely here? Special shout out to Jia Wen for getting into top three and the exclusive invite!

It was the night to be inspired. With the presence of the Tax Partner of Deloitte, Ronnie Liu who delivered his speech articulately, and further strengthen my aspiration to venture into the world of Taxation.

And to top the night off, Sunway students formed 8 out of the 10 finalists for the competition and we swept all the top three awards for both the individual & group’s category.

With Suet Yi and her teammates, Lavinia not included. Congratulations for being the top 5 finalist!

Feeling regret all over the night as I pulled out of the competition at the very last minute due to some personal reasons. I’d have been on the very same stage sharing the joy of victory with the others! Then again, let the bygones be the bygones. Next year’s edition shall be it then.

A great night indeed.

Social Gathering 2010 was a huge hits with the crowd! Undeniably the best event organised by Sunway-TES Accountancy Club thus far!

And to see weeks of preparations behind the scenes turning fruitions, the feeling was amazing. No it wasn’t. Amazing is an understatement.

Amid a few chaotic starts to the event itself, everything went well smoothly throughout the event. Kudos to both the OC/AOC, Soon Jin & Li Ting who worked hard to ensure that this wouldn’t be disappointing.

It’s heartening to see all the students, staff, lecturers, as well our Executive Director joining in the fun with the performances throughout the night.

And to all the SAC committee, damn WE ARE GOOD!

Not exactly what we had asked for (we asked for Jogoya, Tenji, Shogun, Shabu-Shabu…etc), but well, as someone told me this before, ‘Life is like a box full of chocolates, you never know what you going to get!’ (OK, not so related to the topic)

Sun&Surf is a Mediterranean-style Restaurant, serving you among others, Malaysian delights & with a touch of International-famed food. We, the students aren’t exactly the targeted segment by them, and with the presence of tons of executive having their company’s luncheon there, we crashed the whole Sun&Surf, literally.

We ran riot at the place, camwhoring everywhere you can think of, throwing towels around, picking all the food they’ve got & making noises around. Cos we’re just cool like that. hahahahah!

Look at how annoyed those ang mohs were behind the background. The best thing was that, we didn’t give a damn about them. Cos the night was all about us!

You see, SAC’s are not just bunch of nerds. We prove you that.

Graduation was yesterday and all the graduates had great fun celebrating the occasion with the robe and our very own Certs Holder! (amid the quite-boring procession)

And lastly to all my committee members who really worked their socks off for the graduation. It’s never easy to organise things in such a big scale & I’m grateful that everything turned out well at the end. It has been a great time working with each & every of you all and looking forward to our Sports Day!

I know this because the last time I danced on stage trying to imitate Michael Jackson doing his moonwalk thingy, I ended up literally walking on the moon, if you get my drift.

That’s why I spend most the time of my life photographing others instead the other way round. FML.

This time round, me & my colleague over Sunway ACCA Club Committee are organising a Dance Battle specifically catered to those people that can do the real shite-moonwalk-thingy!

In conjunction with the Sunway ACCA Club Charity Week, we will be organising a “Dance Battle” so that you talented dancers out there can show us what it takes to be the “best-est” among the best!

This event is open to all college students who is interested, to raise fund for Trinity Home.

Participants can showcase any form of dance – whether it is ballet, break-dancing, hip pop, popping and etc. as long as it will make the audiences wanna shake their booty too.

So how’s your build up to welcome the Year of Tiger?

As for me, I’ve been craving yee sang for long, an auspicious must-try dish during CNY (college gang we must lou yee sang okie?!).

Today, the Sunway ACCA Committee 2010, specially organized something like a pre-CNY celebration among the members. We had two plates of yee sang thanks to Ms Magaret, mandarin oranges given out by the president, Lavinia.

20.10.2009 3.55pm Sunway MPH. Exam.

I raised up my hand to signal my intention to go to toilet. Nowadays the college has this kind of weird ruling whereby they will note down your time out and limit it to 10 minutes. More than 10 minutes of toilet break and you are on your way out of the exam hall. It sounds childish. though.

Anyway, as I made my way out of the hall quietly, suddenly I felt a gush of strong wind flowed through my body while the big door opened wide for me. A shadow of a human slowly formed in front of my vision as I settled down upon the surprise. Apparently, there was this guy who dashed past me to the toilet. It was real fast, given that I couldn’t even have a good look on him, he took the corner to the right and on his way to toilet. People who wouldn’t know it would possibly mistaken him for participating in some college marathon. And seriously, he deserved a prize for his speed.

As I reached the door, he was peeing with his pants down. Ignoring him, I faced to the mirror on the wall, fixing my already cacat-ed hair.

‘Someone is mumbling’, I told myself. My eyes was running around the toilet to find the culprit like a stray dog finding its food. My eagle-sharp eyes locked upon its target and the person was no other the guy who dashed past me. I had a good look on him though, white hair, skinny body frame, and stripes of old skin visible on his face, he was clearly exhausted by the exam.

‘Professional level student,’ I mumbled.

Shockingly, his mouth was vibrating with countless accounting terms, possibly trying to search for his perfect answer. Before I even realised I was heading to the urinals, again he dashed past me like a storm, albeit without washing his dirty hands.

I pulled down my pants, looking down and slowly pondering.

goddamnitomgosh. That’s me in 2 years time. erm. us I mean. you know. US LA!

Can’t wait to see the change!

The tension built up to this day was huge. Everyone seemed to be looking forward to Monday. Insomnia, high blood pressure, hypertension, everything strike at the point before 12.00pm. It was the day of release of results, an exam which we had sat two months ago with pressures from every side. Today was the day everyone was anticipating, some with high anxiety, some with low expectation.

Funny to see that on the morning people were busy sticking to the computer screen, looking for any sign of new email from ACCA. Sweats were all over the face.

Frankly, this kind of exam anxious thingy got off my mind till the very moment where everyone was checking that I reluctantly joined in the fun. Not to be arrogant, but knowing that I would pass, whether flying colours or not, I wouldn’t worry so much about it. Neither did I habour any hope of getting a Malaysian/World prize, though the rewards coming in are very tempting indeed. So yea, passing the exams is my ultimate objective, and I’d say I have done it, albeit without any good marks.

Very disappointed with one of my subject score, but the other two compensate for it. So, contented la!

Congratulations to my friends that passed their examinations, specially to the smart ass Benjamin who came close of finishing on top of the world. And do work hard for those who failed to achieve their respective objectives, I will always offer my help to whoever that need it!
